The ficus benjamina is perhaps one of the world’s most well known ficus varieties. The ficus genus of trees includes the varieties that we usually just refer to as fig trees, which produces the yummy fig fruit that you can usually find dried in your local supermarket. The ficus benjamina is such a popular type of fig tree that most of the plainly labeled “ficus” trees in garden nurseries are actually the benjamina variety. This type of ficus hails from the southern region of Asia as well as Australia.
